GRIFFIN WOODTONES

Given the sea of plastic, steel and aluminium that currently reside in our lab, it’s easy to see why the Griffin WoodTones caught our eye. Available in walnut, sapele (pictured) or beech, we were instantly smitten with the styling, which struck just the right balance between chintzy old-world charm and modern elegance. They sound brilliant too, with a lovely balanced audio profile that we found refreshing, given how modern commercial headphones tend to prioritise bass over all else. As a result, the WoodTones tackled everything from orchestral pieces to metal tracks with aplomb. Chuck in the fact that they’re comfortable and lightweight and, at $75, they’re a bargain.
